Wonderful creations made with plastic bags. Yes that is right. Plastic fantastic. Gaelynne has a piece in the Wearable Arts this year, which is a good indicator that this exhibition is something to see!!

Hagan Butcher Pauline Mee Rangi Wills Lucretia Perkins

The artist participating are expected to create art & craft from recycled materials or at least to have a prominent recycling aspect to their artwork. A small selection of high quality 2nd hand items suited to the Gallery's ambience are displayed to promote this linkage and focus.

The Re-Finery has been open since September 2003 and the ingenuity and creativity of the artists has turned it into an attractive and inspiring venue.

BEN HODGES
Scouring the Garage Sales, Ben screen prints images and comments onto retro clothing, showing innovative use of second hand clothing.

DOLLS R ME
Copper earrings are the brainchild of Rosie and Gavin Reichenbach. A darker bronze looking copper, a red tinged copper and the more traditional copper colour reflect the diverse range of earrings we have in stock. A wide variety of styles are produced.

GAELYNNE POUND
Plastic Fantastic are the words that come to mind when viewing Gaelynne’s work. Who would have thought that wonderful hat is made from plastic bags! Seeing is believing.

JAY WORLING
Crocheting wire into eclectic shapes imbedded with beads to form baskets, bracelets and other wonderful creations, is Jay’s talent. As well as other mediums using plastic, beads and ties.

FELICITY YATES
Turning woollen jumpers into wonderful winter hats has been a successful seller for Felicity. Innovative design and attention to detail make these hats a must have.

BRENDAN RASELL
You have not seen boxes like Brendan makes boxes. Finely crafted, these boxes with tight fitting lids make wonderful gifts either empty, or perfect for displaying that special piece of jewellery.

GAYA SELDER
Copper, pearls, silver, paua and gold are the components Gaya uses in her wonderful collection of earings.

RON ORME
Ron has a way with spark plugs that will impress. He makes a range of planes using the spark plug as the body. From Bi planes, spitfires, float planes, triplanes and helicopters.

SANDY BOYD
Sandy moves from concrete slabs to delicate copper bead and button creations with style. Her Button window hangings are superb and reflect Sandy’s attention to detail.

EME KILKENNY
Found objects from Tahuna Beach are what make up Eme’s work. Mixed media tinged with humour best describe her work.

HAMISH MULVANEY
Satire and surrealism directed at political situations and relevant world affairs are themes Hamish works with. Humour is prevalent and his work is both refreshing and thought provoking.

PETER HANSEN
Individually crafted display boxes sectioned off and displaying a huge variety of random objects are Peter’s forte. All those personal bits and pieces one collects over the years from pocket watches, old match boxes, medals, coins, brooches etc. Peter finishes these glass fronted display boxes with silver corner mounts and air vents to allow any condensation to evaporate.

MARK RAYNOR
Using a mallet and chisel, Mark creates wonderful pieces of art with timbers such as Walnut, Totara Australian hard wood and Macrocarpa. Sometimes quirky, sometimes practical, these pieces have a natural organic finish that begs to be touched.

JEMMA JOY COOPER
Baubles, buttons, stamps. Puzzle pieces and kilt pins are some of the objects Jemma uses in her eclectic range of bracelets, bangles and brooches. Very original and very popular.

KATY HUGHES
Katy uses recycled thick copper links in her wonderful glass or resin necklaces. Brightly coloured, these original necklaces look stunning on.

TORDIS FLATH
Creating bracelets, necklaces and earings using antique jewellery is a passion for Tordis. Superbly recreated, these delicate and exquisite pieces stand alone for originality and craftsmanship.

MURRAY SPARROW
Long time WOW props designer, Murray is well known for his out there sculptures. Another renderer of metal is our Murray.
